Our Pillars of Work

We are committed to projects that answer some of the most challenging questions in marine conservation. By understanding animal movement, taking care of habitat, and driving innovation we can build and maintain transformative programs for sea turtles, whales, and coral in the Caribbean.

Understanding Animal Movement

Animals migrate across many areas with varying levels of protection or none at all. To conserve species we have to plan according to animal behavior, not politics.

Oceans Forward collaborates on initiatives that track animals’ movements, whether they permanently reside in the Caribbean or are moving through. We use and share this information to advocate for protection.

Understanding Animal Movement

Innovation is essential for developing creative, cross-cutting solutions that last. Support for breakthrough ideas and fresh ways of working are critical to tackle the biggest challenges in ocean conversation.

We drive innovation by breaking down silos and working in ways that are replicable, scalable, and in public view. This allows Oceans Forward and our partners to develop the most effective conservation solutions together.

Habitat is home, it’s everything species need for survival.  Without special places for animals to do what animals do, both marine life and the people who depend on them will suffer.

We advocate for protections, monitor critical areas, and implement science-based solutions to support designations that protect important marine habitats in the Caribbean.

Taking Care of Habitat

We know that the best conservation work is done together. That’s why we work closely with local partners, ensuring they have what they need to be successful in local marine conservation efforts.
