Oceans Forward is working to create a world where the ocean and people are thriving together.

Since 2014, our team and programs have been creating long-lasting, community-centered solutions for marine conservation that push traditional boundaries to make the impossible a reality.

Focus on the Caribbean

The health and wellbeing of the world's oceans, animals, and people are interconnected. Marine conservation in the Caribbean is important for those of us who live there, and the loss of any species in the region is a loss for us all.

Caribbean waters share migratory animals with North America, and are important areas of biodiversity. People and animals of the region are some of the most impacted by climate change, which makes solutions more urgent than ever.  And supporting community-centered conservation efforts is a necessary step towards righting the historical wrongs and long-term impacts of colonialism.

The Caribbean is vital and significant to biodiversity and ocean conservation, and we are proud to be a leader in the region.

Our Values

  • There is an inherent connection between the well being of people, wildlife, and the environment. To be successful in marine conservation we must take care of people too. That’s why we are committed to creating programs and projects that help wildlife and people thrive together.

  • We build and support sustainable conservation projects and programs. Our dedication means we see our work and commitments through to completion. This includes supporting community-centered efforts that ensure people are set up to succeed in long-term conservation efforts.

  • We are willing to take smart risks and try things that others may shy away from. We are not afraid of new and innovative approaches and we believe that our greatest impacts are achievable when we push the boundaries of what is possible.

  • We show up with genuine intention, following through on our commitments and saying what we mean. We bring our true selves to the table to build trust and lasting relationships.

  • Egos can get in the way, but when we are humble and find humor in ourselves and the challenges we encounter, we are more capable of innovation and creating the most impactful work possible.  We believe humility is a cornerstone of successful wildlife conservation efforts.
